About the Role

About the Position: This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. This position will be filled at either Rosslyn, VA; Charleston, SC; or San Antonio, TX. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to the Federal service. Student Loan Repayment may be authorized. Relocation Incentive may be authorized. Recruitment Incentive may be authorized. Advanced In-Hire may be authorized. Advanced Leave Accrual may be authorized.

What You'll Do

  • Serves as an expert consultant for functional teams to assist them in anticipating, identifying, evaluating, mitigating, and minimizing risks associated with information technology (IT) systems’ cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
  • Advises system designers and system administrators about the consistency of proposed cybersecurity strategies with regulatory and policy directives.
  • Provides expert assessment of proposed design measures’ feasibility, based on broad knowledge of parameters imposed by the IT infrastructure and operations.
  • Serves as the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), providing network/computer security and risk management planning, strategic planning, management, and technical oversight.
  • Negotiates and settles matters involving significant complex technical issues, programmatic requirements, or controversial issues and leads consensus building among stakeholders who have diverse and often conflicting interests.
  • Develops, implements, maintains, and refines an integrated program of guidance, goals, standards, plans, procedures, and criteria for the assigned cybersecurity functional areas and associated programs.
  • Employs a variety of means (e.g., emails, training classes) to facilitate team members’ current and continuing awareness of the need to incorporate IT security into all aspects of the work.
  • Evaluates procedures and measures in place to safeguard mission-essential IT operations to prevent unauthorized access to equipment, facilities, material, and information and protect against espionage, terrorism, sabotage, damage, and misuse.
