About the Role

Incumbent serves as a IT Specialist (Data Management) within AJV-T340.

What You'll Do

  • The Information Technology Specialist (IT) applies experience and comprehensive knowledge of information technology (IT) principles, concepts, and methods, such as data storage, software applications, and networking, to develop, deliver, and support Air Traffic Organization (ATO) sensitive and confidential human capital reporting IT systems and services.
  • The Specialist performs multiple and varying assignments to develop complex technical designs, identify systems requirements, and to validate data sources under the minimal direction of the team manager.
  • This work impacts the ATO's ability to determine staffing standards for the air traffic and technical operations workforce and, ultimately, the safety of the National Airspace System (NAS).
  • As a principal technical specialist utilizes the Staffing and Payroll System (SAP) Business Objects universe to build visualization dashboards and analytics applications to assess risk, and improve efficiencies.
  • Uses automated databases, web-based applications, and information management systems to input data, track progress against milestones, and to provide periodic and ad-hoc reports.
  • Uses a variety of operating systems, web browsers and software tools such as Java, Structured Query Language (SQL), Oracle Stored Procedure, PL/SQL, SQL Loader, or SAP Data Services to manage and manipulate data efficiently in human capital reporting systems.
  • Uses web report builders to create, customize, and generate reports for identifying trends and outliers that provide accurate assessment of facility staffing levels and support organization in making data-driven decisions.
  • Configures network protocols and manages network connectivity on systems and servers.
  • Manipulates relational database management systems, such as the FAA1 Data Warehouse, Enterprise Data Repository (EDR), Staffing Workbook and Business Objects Universe to acquire, store and retrieve data to support ATO technical staffing teams.
  • Identifies air traffic operational functions to enter information into and retrieve data from aviation database systems.
  • Uses extract, transform, load (ETL) to copy data from a variety of different databases to assist in the process of integrating multiple staffing related standalone tools into Staffing Workbook.
  • Utilizes database normalization processes to review and structure ATO staffing databases to reduce data redundancy and improve data integrity.
  • Develops and implements new data management schema.
  • Introduces new types of data or adjustments to the classification index without changing or compromising the current structure of the system.
