About the Role

This position is located in Division of Emergency Preparedness and Responses. This job opportunity announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies within the agency. The supervisor is Anthony Bowers. This position is subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements. This position is subject to security ownership restriction reporting requirements.

What You'll Do

  • The successful candidate will perform the full range of planning, coordinating and performing secure and nonsecure IT initiatives that support continuity of operations (COOP) and incident response (IR) facilities.
  • Assignments involve the development and periodic review of IT and communications procedures and the resolution of related policy and technical issues relating to security requirements for the COOP program.
  • Additionally, the work involves regularly accessing and handling sensitive information, including Safeguards Information and classified/restricted data documents and/or materials.
  • Such duties include but are not limited to: The IT Project Manager (ITPM) oversees and maintains the agency's critical IT infrastructure, cloud environments, and software systems.
  • This role troubleshoots complex technical issues, stays current on emerging technologies, and advises leadership on IT improvements and security needs.
  • The ITPM collaborates across the agency to apply consistent project management practices aligned with NRC's PMM.
  • The role supports COOP and incident response operations, reviews agency policies for IT impact, and ensures reliable Digital Service Center (DSC) performance.
  • Key responsibilities include leading needs assessments, improving IT processes, coordinating efforts between Office of the Chief Information Officer and stakeholders, and conducting technical audits and feasibility studies.
  • The ITPM also develops business cases and cost estimates, ensures projects meet architectural and security standards, and supports key lifecycle activities such as Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) submissions, along with audits and risk assessments.
  • The role further contributes to strengthening business processes to enhance overall organizational efficiency.
  • The ITPM represents the NRC in engagements with internal and external partners, sharing information on technologies, policies, and best practices.
  • They provide technical direction to contractors and oversee project scope, documentation, procurement materials, and project tracking.
