About the Role

This position is in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Chillicothe VA Medical Center. The position is in the Planning & Design Department, Facilities Management Service (FMS) and works under the direct supervision of the General Project Engineer Supervisor. Incumbent assists with the interior design of the medical center, consisting of approximately 70 buildings, 306 acres, and over 1,000,000 square feet of space and this includes six Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).

What You'll Do

  • Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Create, design, and furnish buildings and medical facilities.
  • Design building interior environments to promote employee productivity, health, and welfare, and/or the health and welfare of the public.
  • Responsible for the purchase of furnishings and accessories to assure compatibility with user group.
  • Prepare specifications and detailed requests for the purchasing, fabrication, and installation of furniture, paint materials, wall, floor and window coverings, artwork and framing, lighting, wall lockers, and a variety of other interior design furnishings and materials.
  • Advise on space involved in construction projects.
  • Reviews all approved and proposed minor and major projects involving interior design and assists in selecting appropriate finishes for contractors.
  • Prepares and maintains the interior design budget.
  • Develops and maintains a systematic record of all interior design projects to include property or service requests, purchase orders, receiving reports, or related memoranda.
  • Acts as Contracting Officer's Representative for all furnishings, window treatments, patient cubicle curtains, wall coverings, floor coverings, wall art, lighting, ceiling treatments, casework, and all other interior design-related accoutrements from origination to installation Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
