These positions are to be filled under the OPM Government-Wide Direct Hire Authority for STEM Positions for grades GS 12-15. This serves as a public notice for the use of the Direct Hire Authority in accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3327 and 3330 and 5 CFR 330. - →Veterans shape the future of energy As a Supervisory Interdisciplinary General Engineer/Physical Scientist, you will: Support program requirements and protect public health by developing and implementing operational policies, long-range strategies, and safety guidelines.
- →Research reactors in order to guarantee safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant infrastructure by overseeing the planning, design, construction, operation, and final disposition of high-hazard nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
- →Formulate, defend, and execute program budgets, business plans, and resource requests to secure necessary project funding and staff resources Coordinate with Naval Reactors (NR), the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), commercial industry, and congressional representatives on nuclear research reactor operations and resolve complex, controversial policies.
- →Manage capital line-item projects and reviews safety testing programs to ensure compliance with high-hazard operations.
- →Direct and supervise staff by planning workloads, setting priorities, establishing performance standards, and identifying employee training and developmental needs.
