About the Role
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a INTERDISCIPLINARY GENERAL ENGINEERING, T5904800 and is part of the Oregon National Guard 173rd Fighter Wing, National Guard.
What You'll Do
- →As a INTERDISCIPLINARY GENERAL ENGINEERING, GS-0801-12, this position is located in a Civil Engineering Squadron at an Air National Guard Wing. 1.
- →Plans and schedules work in a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution.
- →Coordinates plans and schedules with other organization managers and customers as appropriate.
- →Identifies need for changes in priorities and takes action to implement such changes.
- →Balances workload and provides advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of policy, investigative, inspection/ exercise, strategic planning, and administrative issues.
- →Identifies requirements and initiates requests for additional resources including personnel, overtime, equipment, supplies, training and space to ensure success in meeting goals and objectives.
- →Provides advice to supervisor on significant issues and problems related to work accomplishment. 2.
- →Accomplishes long and short-range planning for replacement of facilities or equipment including contingency operations for potential war or domestic emergency conditions.
- →Contributes to development and time phasing of operations and maintenance of real property facility and construction programs to ensure assimilation into the overall installation program. 3.
- →Represents the Base Architect/Engineer at meetings and conferences.
- →Coordinates on plans, exchanges information, recommends policy or procedures and keeps apprised of new architecture and engineering developments.
- →Makes decisions in line with prior ANG Base policy and planning, such as priority of new construction, acceptance of completed work, facility disposal, real estate acquisition, utilization, or disposal actions.
- →Coordinates with ANG Civil Engineer Directorate and Engineering Divisions, selected civilian engineer and/or the Navy Facilities Engineering/Corps of Engineers (COE) offices on higher echelon-approved projects under the Military Construction Program and Real Property Maintenance Programs and requirements pertinent thereto. 4.
- →Provides technical instructions and information on architectural, engineering and other technical requirements and assigns phases of projects to subordinate architects, engineers, engineering technicians, and draftsmen.
Requirements
- ✓Degree: Engineering.
- ✓Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
- ✓The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: 1.
- ✓Professional registration or licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT)1, or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
- ✓Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration.
- ✓For example, an applicant who attains registration through a State Board's eminence provision as a manufacturing engineer typically would be rated eligible only for manufacturing engineering positions. 2.
- ✓Written Test -- Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. 3.
- ✓Specified academic courses -- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A.
- ✓The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A. 4.
- ✓Ordinarily there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
