About the Role

You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER in the Reentry Systems Products, Integration, & Test Section (SP282) of STRATEGIC SYSTEMS PROGRAMS of STRATEGIC SYSTEMS PROGRAMS. This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NH-4 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15.

What You'll Do

  • You will execute technical program management activities for all phases of the development and deployment life cycle for specified products within the Navy's reentry systems portfolio.
  • You will liaise, partner with and support various stakeholders in the formulation and execution of requirements, planning factors, and budgets necessary to support design, development, production, and test and evaluation of reentry systems.
  • You will conduct both systems and program integration of the Navy's reentry systems portfolio with other relevant product lines and systems associated with the Strategic Weapons System (SWS) and its employment.
  • You will closely coordinate with the staff of other sections and units within the Reentry Systems Branch to ensure delivery of excellence across the technical and programmatic spectrum.
  • You will support the unit head for Reentry Systems and Payload Test and the section head for Reentry Systems Products, Integration and Test in their role as an advisor and consultant to the Reentry Systems Branch Head.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
  • OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

  • OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
  • Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
