What You'll Do
- →You will serve as an airworthiness expert on matters relating to manned and/or unmanned air vehicle flight clearance requirements.
- →You will serve as an airworthiness expert on matters relating to establishing airworthiness, managing risk mitigation and implementing limitation thresholds in support of airworthiness and safety of flight assessments of all DoN air vehicles.
- →You will develop, review, and release AW certification products Flight Clearances for all aviation systems and integrated stores owned or operated by the USN/USMC on behalf of the DON Airworthiness Authority.
- →You will serve as an airworthiness advocate at planning meetings, program reviews, decision briefings, and Fleet events.
- →You will appropriately inform leadership decision making of implications to airworthiness and safety of flight wrt specific platform capability development, configuration modifications, and/or emergent issues.
- →You will collaborate with stakeholders including program, engineering, test, Fleet, and OEMs to resolve controversial issues and conflicting requirements concerning air vehicle/weapon system integration safety-of-flight issues.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
