You will serve as an INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER in the AIR SYSTEMS GROUP, AIR VEHICLE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, SUBSYSTEMS DIVISION, and HYDRAULICS & PNEUMATICS BRANCH of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. The duty location of this position is Patuxent River, MD.
What You'll Do
- →You will demonstrate an understanding of the risk acceptance procedures such as the use of for SSRA/AMSR to characterize and accept risk.
- →You will demonstrate familiarity with industry specifications such as SAE specs, MIL standards, and MIL-HDBK-516 requirement.
- →You will identify and solve a wide variety of complex problems with many competing objectives, variables and constraints.
- →You will deliver optimized technical solutions that are balanced to achieve required technical performance within cost, schedule and technology constraints.
- →You will demonstrate extensive, applied experience identifying, analyzing, communicating, and mitigating engineering safety risks across the system life cycle.
- →You will provide a structured, safety centered responses to address technical issues without compromising minimum airworthiness requirements.
- →You will describe a structured, repeatable approach for managing simultaneous urgent requests while protecting safety, quality, and customer commitments.
- →You will provide a comprehensive, structured response that protects airworthiness while helping the program establish a documented, technically defensible path forward.
- →You will demonstrate extensive, applied experience developing, reviewing, executing, approving, or managing functional test, maintenance, qualification, acceptance, troubleshooting, or verification procedures for aircraft hardware.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
