About the Role

This vacancy is for a GS - 0101 - 12/13, Integrated Primary Prevention Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Coast Guard Academy in NEW LONDON, Connecticut.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as a/an Integrated Primary Prevention Specialist and be responsible serving as a consultant to the Command addressing a broad range of Integrated Primary Prevention issues, and will collaborate with internal and external entities to ensure optimal planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Command IPP activities.
  • Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
  • Typical work assignments include: Executing strategic level IPP program direction at the CGA through dedicated planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring.
  • Providing counsel to Academy staff leadership, Corps of Cadets leaders, LDC leadership and other tenant units to address critical prevention program planning and implementation elements.
  • Identifying existing or potential risk and protective factors that could lead to potential problematic behaviors and recommends preventative measures that leadership can take to address risk and increase protective factors.
  • Delivers and coordinates IPP training and education (skill building, healthy relationships, etc.) as needed, to build and sustain the Services IPP capacity and capability.
  • Consolidating data from diverse sources to identify critical prevention needs and guide recommendations.
  • Provides guidance to Commands on program evaluation and measurement techniques related to prevention activities.
