The position is located in Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System. The mission of this position is to maintain the integrity and proper operation of all asbestos safety and flooring concerns while ensuring minimal interruptions to VA operations and maximum quality to patient care. The purpose of this position is to oversee and implement any assessments or regulatory requirements related to the abatement and removal of building material containing asbestos.
What You'll Do
- →Duties: The incumbent's working directly with the end users, independently sketching and laying out projects, and independently planning and performing work sequences are typical of grade 9 level responsibility.
- →The incumbent determines the most appropriate materials and tools to use in order to meet close tolerances, precise fit, and finished appearance, e.g., custom fitting office furniture desk, bookcase, cabinet, shelving and counter tops into offices, and custom fitting similarites into patient, laboratory, and other work areas of the medical center.
- →The incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of manual labor, maintenance and instrument operation tasks associated with asbestos abatement; inspects, encapsulates, contains, and removes asbestos; and performs related duties as required.
- →Insulators work from written or oral instructions, blueprints, sketches, or personal inspection of items to be insulated.
- →Works under the general supervision of a supervisor who provides oral or written instructions concerning overall responsibilities, policies, and procedures and daily assignments.
- →Follows applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of access codes, etc., as set out in the computer access agreement that the employee signs.
- →Performs assignments independently selecting tools, materials, parts, methods, and techniques to use and complete the work.
- →Experience working with hazardous materials in course of assignment such as asbestos and lead based paint.
- →Assists Industrial Hygienists in conducting inspections or surveys, calibrating, testing, and maintaining instruments and safety equipment, collecting water and material samples and related duties requiring less than full professional competence in the field of industrial hygiene.
- →Complies with all safety/fire prevention rules/regulations, using protective equipment when required and provided.
- →Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.
