This position Is located at Department of Veterans Affairs, Hudson Valley Health Care System Montrose and Castle Point campuses. The employee performs a variety of tasks relative to the trade of Industrial Equipment Mechanic. The Incumbent may be assigned or reassigned to either HVHCS campus as the needs of the medical center warrant.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but are not limited to: The incumbent is responsible for performing installation, preventive maintenance and repair to all the Medical Centers industrial and non industrial equipment.
- →The incumbent overhauls, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on all VA owned vehicles end equipment which includes, but is not limited to emergency generators, air compressors, exhaust fans/blowers, portable and stationary Industrial production machinery and equipment used in the production of goods and services for patient care.
- →The incumbent installs, maintains and repairs non production industrial plant machinery, equipment and systems that have a complex interrelationship among components.
- →Interprets and applies the requirements of technical manuals, shop directives, multi-view blueprints, and other documents to determine the critical dimensions and key reference points.
- →The incumbent installs equipment, parts, and or components.
- →The incumbent is responsible for connection to power sources, conducts operational tests of the entire system, and uses test equipment such as alignment scopes, venires, micrometers, precision levels, strobe tachometers, bearing bridge gauges, flow meters, hydrostatic testers, vibration analyzers and ultrasonic testing instrumentation.
- →Dismantles, moves and relocates various types of industrial plant machinery, equipment and systems.
- →The incumbent must determine the extent of repairs, required materials and parts needed and estimate accurately the time required for completing repairs.
- →The incumbent must be competent to reassemble and install the equipment including assembly of accessory and auxiliary components.
- →The incumbent must be able to make precision alignment and adjustments for balance using laser alignment tools.
- →The incumbent sets up and operates machine tools to manufacture component parts or re-machine existing parts.
- →The incumbent must be competent to make adjustments to ensure proper operation of entire systems including but not limited to adjusting and using various regulating and/or safety devices, meters, gauges, governors and automatic alarms.
- →Maintains operational logs, preventive maintenance logs, repair logs, and parts Inventory records to ensure sufficient materials, supplies and parts are on hand to keep equipment functioning with minimal down time.
- →The incumbent shall provide the supervisor with a comprehensive listing of supplies, parts, materials, lubricants needed as necessary.
