About the Role
The High School Work Study (HSWS) Program is currently a highly competitive program designed for high school students who plan to participate in a paid part-time internship during their senior year. Students have the opportunity to gain work experience in business, computer, engineering, manufacturing, construction, intelligence analysis aide, and Chinese or Farsi language. The program provides hands-on work experience from September-August for 4 hours per day/20 hours per week Monday-Friday.
Requirements
- ✓For AK: - Must complete or be enrolled in a higher level Computer Science course prior to the completion of the junior year.
- ✓Applicants who have not completed one of these courses will not be considered for a position in the program.
- ✓For UT: - For the Chinese language role, must complete or be enrolled in a minimum of two Chinese language courses prior to the completion of the junior year (preferred Language courses are Intermediate Chinese or above).
- ✓For GA: - Complete at least two of the following course work; business course, technical computer course, computer technology, engineering, manufacturing, construction, Chinese language, or humanities prior to the completion of the junior year.
- ✓Courses preferred are Microsoft Applications, Keyboarding, Software Applications, Advanced Applications, Advance English, Advance Humanities, Language courses, Computer Skills for Academic Success/preferred Technical Computer courses are Computer Science, Visual Basic, Java, Web Page Design, Intro to Engineering and Programming C++).
- ✓Applicants who have not completed one of these courses will not be considered for a position in the program.
