This position serves as the High Reliability Organization (HRO) Coordinator within Quality Management at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. Responsible for coordinating, implementing, evaluating, and sustaining programs that support patient safety, quality improvement, and High Reliability principles across the organization in support of the Veterans Health Administration's HRO initiatives.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties include, but not limited to: Serves as the facility subject matter expert for High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles, patient safety, and process improvement initiatives.
- →Leads, coordinates, and evaluates organizational strategies designed to improve healthcare quality, patient safety, operational efficiency, and clinical effectiveness.
- →Provides oversight and guidance for the implementation and sustainment of High Reliability principles across clinical and administrative services.
- →Co-chairs the facility High Reliability Organization Committee and supports HRO subcommittees, workgroups, and interdisciplinary teams.
- →Participates in VISN and national HRO councils, committees, conference calls, and strategic planning initiatives to support organizational transformation efforts.
- →Develops, revises, and coordinates policies, procedures, status reports, action plans, and educational materials related to High Reliability and Quality Management initiatives.
- →Conducts studies, audits, reviews, analyses, and special projects focused on reducing system errors, improving communication processes, and enhancing patient safety outcomes.
- →Analyzes qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends, measure program effectiveness, develop performance metrics, and recommend corrective actions.
- →Develops data collection methodologies, validates data accuracy, and prepares reports, dashboards, scorecards, and executive briefings for leadership review.
- →Collaborates with executive leadership, service chiefs, managers, and interdisciplinary teams to identify system vulnerabilities and implement process improvement strategies.
- →Supports organizational readiness activities and accreditation compliance efforts involving The Joint Commission (TJC), CARF, and other regulatory or accrediting agencies.
- →Coordinates and delivers training, education, and communication programs related to High Reliability, patient safety, Just Culture, performance improvement, and process improvement methodologies.
- →Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to improve workflow efficiency, eliminate process barriers, and strengthen organizational culture and patient-centered care initiatives.
- →Monitors organizational compliance with performance measures, regulatory standards, and national/VISN High Reliability requirements.
