About the Role
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management, Division of Lands & Minerals, CARLSBAD, NEW MEXICO. We expect to fill 1 vacancy/vacancies at this time; however, additional positions may be filled from this announcement if they become available.
What You'll Do
- →Independently plans, conducts, and prepares reports and decisions affecting mineral development projects.
- →Prepares subsurface contour maps and cross sections of oil and gas fields and mineral deposits based on correlation and interpretation of geophysical well logs, seismographic data, and geostatistical data in manual and electronic database formats.
- →Provides geologic data and analysis to support calculations of resource and fair market values of tracts offered for mineral leasing or disposal, this includes both solid and fluid minerals.
- →Prepares comprehensive maps and interpretative reports describing results of field observations and office studies; establishing the character and potential value of the lands with respect to drainage protection or lease development.
- →Prepares comprehensive geologic reports, studies, for all phases of land-use planning efforts including resource management and activity plans.
- →Review drilling applications for geologic integrity and ensures protection of subsurface resource by providing recommendations to the Branch of Fluid operations.
- →Reviews exploratory, secondary, and gas storage unit agreement proposals for geologic integrity, equity and fairness in participation formulas, and proper development and establishment of participation areas.
- →Reviews drilling and recompletion activity and production history of all oil and gas wells within the area assigned to detect drainage of Federal or Indian minerals or the lack of Indian mineral development.
