About the Role

You will serve as a Geographer/Physical Scientist National Civil Applications Center. This position serves as the Chief, Partnership Branch and concurrently as the Civil Applications Committee (CAC) Executive Secretary. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2 to 3 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. GS-14 Salary $143,913 - $187,093. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

What You'll Do

  • Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Advises the Civil Applications Committee (CAC) Chair, CAC Vice-Chair(s), and CAC Principal Members on policy and procedural issues related to access to and use of U.S.
  • National Imaging System (USNIS) data and capabilities used to meet their agency's statutory missions.
  • Plans and conducts CAC meetings and working groups and documents the CAC's decisions ensuring that proper oversight responsibilities and documentation is maintained that shows Federal Civil agency use of USNIS data follows applicable laws and Executive Orders and Office of the Director for National Intelligence, Intelligence Community (IC), and Department of War (DoW) regulations and policies.
  • Oversees CAC member's requests for the collection of IC and DoW remotely sensed data to ensure the protection of Constitutional and other legal rights of U.S. persons and to ensure that such requests and the use of such data are consistent with the authorities and responsibilities of such organizations and are in accordance with authorized programs.
  • Represents the CAC Chair and CAC Federal Civil agencies to National System for Geospatial Intelligence, DoW, and IC counterparts to enhance the development of advanced imagery acquisition systems, exploitation, and dissemination of data and information derived from USNIS.
  • Supervises the Partnership Branch staff that also functions as the CAC Secretariat who assist the incumbent in managing the CAC, its activities, and the intergovernmental relationships necessary for successful collaboration.

  • In determining if your employment advances the public interest, the agency will consider: your performance and conduct; the needs and interests of the agency; whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service.
  • Under applicable law, the employment of an individual serving a probationary or trial period automatically terminates when that period ends unless the agency affirmatively certifies, in writing, that the individual's employment should continue and that their appointment should be finalized.
  • In the absence of agency action to affirmatively certify continued employment beyond the probationary or trial period, such appointments are terminated.
