You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the Quality Control Branch (Code 221), Process Controls Division(Code 220), Office of the Chief Engineer(Code 240), Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
What You'll Do
- →You will provide associated documentation to the branch supervisor for technical changes throughout work execution.
- →You will provide ship availability job planning support at assigned project locations.
- →You will ensure that normal progression of Engineering Division job planning work is maintained, both prior to availability start and throughout execution for assigned availability.
- →You will be responsible for ensuring necessary funding issues are resolved and addressed in order to permit work to be accomplished as scheduled without delay.
- →You will provide guidance and leadership to lower graded personnel and provide independent guidance oversight on routine maters without supervisory intervention.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
