You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER for the Chief Engineer (c240) in the Engineering & Planning Department (c200) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. PAY RANGE GS-11: $86,472 - $109,867 GS-09: $80,260 - $99,596
What You'll Do
- →You will act as the principal contact point and technical specialist on non-nuclear system testing and/or work control of an assigned ship.
- →You will coordinate and execute detailed test procedures based on Naval Sea System Command (NAVSEA) derived specifications.
- →You will ensure timely actions are taken to place systems in a safe condition if abnormal or unexpected conditions or operating parameters occur during the performance of testing or system operations.
- →You will ensure all prerequisites are satisfied prior to the commencement of testing or operations and stopping work or testing which could prevent safe performance of authorized operations.
- →You will provide technical direction and supervision for the assignment of work to a group of employees in conducting the work control and testing programs.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
