About the Role
You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT (CODE 200/S200) of NAVAL SHIP REPAIR FACILITY. ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below.***
What You'll Do
- →You will be responsible for guiding, coordinating, monitoring and reporting the Engineering and Planning effort being carried out for specific ships or projects.
- →You will prioritize the preparation and issue of technical work documents (TWDs), providing waterfront engineering representation for Hull, Mechanical and Electrical availability work items.
- →You will provide assistance in resolving systematic and unusually complex technical problems related to ship systems and components.
- →You will provide system and component installation or modification information to ensure specification compliance.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
- ✓Additional Information Continued: This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
- ✓Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- ✓This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
