About the Role

This vacancy is for a GS-0801-13, General Engineer located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OFFICE OF ACQ SUPT and SYS ENG POLICY and PROCESSES -CG-924 CG-SID-9 in WASHINGTON, District of Columbia.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as a/an General Engineer and be responsible for developing and implementing systems engineering policies and processes for Coast Guard acquisition programs and provide systems engineering advice to these programs and Program Managers in the implementation of systems engineering within the programs.
  • Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
  • Typical work assignments include: Applying knowledge of systems engineering practices and principles in analyzing, developing, coordinating and applying Systems Engineering processes to all aspects of major and non-major systems acquisition.
  • Providing advice and guidance to major acquisition program personnel concerning design reviews, test readiness reviews, configuration audits and other engineering related programmatic review/audits.
  • Providing oversight of Coast Guard programs' systems engineering implementation.
  • Recommending revisions and alternative approaches to better achieve required cost, schedule and performance goals.
