About the Role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as Department of Army (DA) recognized subject matter expert responsible for executing the explosives safety mission of the Defense Ammunition Center's (DAC), US Army Technical Center for Explosives Safety Directorate.

What You'll Do

  • Designs/analyzes logistical procedures, using solid modeling and analysis systems.
  • Conducts necessary stress analyses of materials and physical configurations, subject to both static and dynamic loadings and forces.
  • Coordinates with governmental and commercial agencies, CONUS and OCONUS, and/or with foreign governments to obtain approval of procedures for transport of hazardous materials or to develop scenarios for hazardous materials movements.
  • Determines the types of tests needed and develops cost estimates, and designs instrumentation packages, test plans, and test sketches.
  • Identify the nature and scope of novel and obscure problems and require incumbent to project assumptions and derive criteria from inconclusive or variable data.
  • Reviews and provides concurrence in logistics procedural drawings designed by lower graded personnel that are being submitted for regulatory approval.
  • Contacts require incumbent to influence or persuade command and other services to adopt doctrine and/or philosophy changes which may cause some points of disagreement.
  • Serves as the lead engineer, provides technical guidance to other personnel in the conduct of their engineering mission.
  • Serves as action officer for special assignments and projects pertaining to ammunition logistics.
  • Resolves serious conflicts between engineering/design and management requirements.
  • Provides technical assistance to military and civilian personnel worldwide to solve wholesale and retail ammunition logistics problems.
  • Participates in conferences or meetings with representatives of governmental and commercial agencies and industries.
