You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the TECHNICAL DIVISION (SP20) / REENTRY SYSTEMS BRANCH (SP28) of STRATEGIC SYSTEMS PROGRAMS This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NH-4 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15..
What You'll Do
- →You will be responsible for the development of next-generation thermal protection materials, and coordinating to establish the production capacity for the delivery of these materials.
- →You will lead Aeroshell Integrated Product Team efforts for future reentry body programs of record.
- →You will collaborate with interagency partners, military branches, and defense contractors to develop project requirements, budgets, and plans.
- →You will formulate and execute requirements definition and budgetary planning necessary to support thermal protection material development activities.
- →You will direct and participate in reviews of progress and/or issues with stakeholders related to thermal protection material development and testing.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
