You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the Engineering Department (200) of SUPSHIP GULF COAST. You will serve as a Waterfront Project Engineer responsible directly for contract administration of new construction, conversion, design, development and/or overhaul contracts.
What You'll Do
- →You will provide consultative services, monitor various programs, and review and an approval of engineering studies, drawings, test procedures, technical manuals, other technical documentation, and design change proposals.
- →You will provide engineering support and services to other SUPSHIP Departments, ship's force, NAVSEA and other DoD agencies.
- →You will resolve engineering issues in support of a particular project and ship class.
- →You will ensure that technically acceptable ships and crafts are designed, fabricated, and tested.
- →You will monitor closely the engineering workload, establish priorities where necessary, and provide advice and recommendations to the Chief Engineer and Project Officer.
- →You will coordinate engineering matters within the Engineering Department and take appropriate follow-up actions to ensure the timely resolution of engineering problems.
- →You will be responsible for assessment of the Contractor's activities regarding the engineering aspects of a construction contract.
- →You will provide management reports to the Chief Engineer and Project Officer concerning the progress and performance of the Contractor when requested.
- →You will maintain status of engineering problems affecting production schedules by continuous liaison with high level managers and engineers, and by attending Waterfront Management meetings.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
