This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service (NWS), Office of Business Operations and Accountability (BOA), Facilities Division, with 1 vacancy in Silver Spring, MD; Fort Worth, TX; Salt Lake City, UT; or Kansas City, MO.
What You'll Do
- →As a General Engineer, you will perform the following duties: Oversee the management, control, coordination, and execution of assigned programs and projects including real property procurement, oversight and administration of new leases, design, construction, and office relocation.
- →Lead or support the Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) and Deferred Maintenance (DM) programs with planning, budgeting, and construction administration for facilities and their infrastructure, or assist with the project management or acquisition of architectural, engineering, and other essential support services.
- →Communicate with customers and National Weather Service (NWS) management on project progress, issues and their resolutions, and any impacts on costs and schedules.
- →Develop technical requirements for contractual support for small to very large ($3M +) design, system replacement, installation, construction, and office relocation contracts required for operations.
- →CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Obtain/maintain Federal Acquisition Certified Contracting Officer Representative Level 2 within one year of appointment.

- ✓Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
- ✓Any selections made under this notice will be processed as new appointments to the civil service.
- ✓Therefore, Current Federal employees would be given new appointments to the civil service and may have to serve a new probationary period under CFR 315.802 (b).
- ✓NOTE: A one year probationary period will be required under the Direct Hire Authority unless you are a current Department of Commerce (including NOAA) employee; and are in the same line of work; have previously completed a probationary period; and with no more than a 30 day break in service.
