This position located in Denali National Park and Preserve or in Anchorage, AK, in the Maintenance Division. Incumbent may select either duty location. If duty stationed in Anchorage, you will be required to travel to Denali up to 5 nights per month. The position is responsible to apply technical expertise for construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of all facilities at Denali National Park and Preserve (DENA).
What You'll Do
- →The major duties of the Project Manager position include, but are not limited to, the following: Apply technical expertise to Identify, quantify, and develop solutions in response to complex issues or maintenance requirements for DENA facilities.
- →Develop estimates, scope of work and technical criteria to provide the substance for the contract packages assembled by the incumbent, and subsequently, the project work overseen by this position in the capacity of Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
- →Formulation and queueing of accurate project funding requests in electronic facility management systems of the National Park Service (NPS) for the purpose of obtaining funding and authorization for the work.
- →Utilization of best practices and technical knowledge are requisite for development and continual maintenance of a multi-year programmatic facility management program by the incumbent for the purpose in reducing the FCI and ensuring maximum life-cycles for the park's facilities.
- →Guidance and support are provided by this position to inform DENA management and agency partners' prioritization of the broader work output direction.
- →Supervision of technical staff in the fields of work that support the output goals of this position.
- →Physical Demands: The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as in performing regular and periodic construction activities, field inspections, or to observe and study work operations in an industrial, storage, or comparable work area.
- →Incumbent may carry light items such as books, instruments, and other similar materials.
- →Depending on project assignments, the work may require periodic to frequent travel of up to five continuous working days, and driving a motor vehicle long distances to reach remote parks.
- →Working Conditions: The work is usually performed in an office setting.
- →The work area involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring safety precautions typical of offices or meeting and training rooms.
- →The incumbent maybe required to travel to work sites which can involve occasional exposure to conditions in production facilities, laboratories, or construction sites requiring normal safety precautions.
- →The incumbent may be required to participate in safety training such as fall protection, respiratory mask fit testing, or confined space entry training, as required by individual projects, to allow safe and thorough assessment of existing facilities and/or new construction.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- ✓Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.
- ✓You will also submit a photocopy of your valid State issued driver's license prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year, or more frequently if management determines such need exists.
- ✓Lastly, you may be required to submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- ✓Please indicate in your application whether you possess a valid State driver's license.
- ✓You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 5 nights per month.
- ✓You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- ✓You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
- ✓The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by at least one of the following: Related Curriculum: Degree in architectural engineering may be accepted as satisfying in full the basic requirements, provided the completed course work in architectural engineering provided knowledge, skills, and abilities substantially equivalent to those provided in the courses specified in paragraph A.
- ✓The curriculum for a degree in either architecture or architectural engineering covers function, esthetics, site, structure, economics, mechanical-electrical, and other engineering problems related to the design and construction of buildings primarily (but not exclusively) intended to house human activities.
- ✓The courses required for a degree in architecture generally place emphasis upon planning, esthetics, and materials and methods of construction, while the courses for an architectural engineering degree place equal or greater weight on the technical engineering aspects such as structural systems, mechanical systems, and the properties of materials.
