About the Role

This position is located in the Facility Management Branch. The primary purpose is to provide engineering and technical consultation for healthcare facilities, staff housing, site improvements, physical plant systems, and preventive maintenance; manage building projects, maintain the computerized maintenance management system, and administer contracts. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

What You'll Do

  • Plans, coordinates, and manages designated healthcare facility projects, working with agency personnel and tribal representatives to establish project goals, develop master plans, and monitor project progress.
  • Reviews and analyzes architectural and engineering concepts, drawings, and specifications for compliance with agency standards, policies, project requirements, and healthcare facility needs; identifies deficiencies and recommends improvements.
  • Provides engineering expertise across Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Architectural disciplines in the design, construction, modification, and operation of healthcare and support facilities.
  • Enforces compliance with building codes and design standards, including the Uniform Building Code, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, applicable NFPA requirements, and HHS Minimum Standards.
  • Develops and updates annual project and financial budgets and acquisition plans for HFDS, BEMAR, FEPP, and other facility projects; supports project cost estimates, schedules, and procurement activities.
  • Coordinates with maintenance, housing, and biomedical staff to maintain the CMMS preventive maintenance database, including work-order tracking, preventive maintenance activities, project reporting, and facility maintenance requirements.

  • This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.

  • Background Investigation Requirement: This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment.
