THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a GENERAL ENGINEER, Position Description Number T5904800 and is part of the MD 175th ANG, National Guard.
What You'll Do
- →The purpose of this position is to provide supervisory and technical assistance to the Base Architect/Engineer in overseeing and managing the engineering shops and production control function.
- →This position performs the following duties: Plans and schedules work in a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution.
- →Coordinates plans and schedules with other organization managers and customers as appropriate.
- →Identifies need for changes in priorities and takes action to implement such changes.
- →Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules.
- →Assigns work to subordinate employees based on organization priorities and consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments such that the experience, training, and abilities of staff are effectively utilized to meet organization and customer needs.
- →Responsible for the acquisition, construction, maintenance, repair, and operating of real property facilities, and provides related management, engineering, and other support work.
- →Exercises authority in planning, directing, controlling and coordinating architectural or engineering activities.
- →Directs total operations through subordinate civilian supervisory and non-supervisory personnel.
- →Plans, schedules and assigns work; establishes and monitors internal controls; and ensures uniform application of regulations, policies, directives, and professional engineering practices.
- →Considers a variety of elements in determining funds available, contour of land, soil condition, weather and its effect upon building material, new engineering concepts, USAF Guides, etc.
- →Determines operational trends and forecasts requirements.
- →Determines and coordinates acquisition and use of money, manpower, equipment and material.
- →Plans required organizational structures to establish the essential functional elements necessary to carry out architectural/engineering responsibilities most effectively and economically.
Requirements
- ✓Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- ✓May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
- ✓Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- ✓This position requires a secret security clearance; the incumbent of this position must obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance prior to onboarding.
- ✓This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
- ✓An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- ✓Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
- ✓Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
- ✓May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
- ✓This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
- ✓Head of Agency requests to exceed 14 days in a calendar year must be approved in advance by the National Guard, Director of Manpower and Personnel (NGB-J1).
- ✓To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet the following educational requirements: A.
- ✓Degree: Engineering.
- ✓Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
