About the Role
This position is located in the immediate Office of the Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Political Military Affairs (PM). The PM Bureau includes a staff of Assistant Secretary, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, three Deputy Assistant Secretaries, and eight offices, including Foreign Service Officers, Civil Service, military detailees, and contractors. What You'll Do
- →Serve as senior advisor to the Assistant Secretary and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretaries on political-military strategic engagements and policy issues of national and international significance.
- →Coordinate the flow of information, meetings, and briefing materials to Bureau Principals, ensuring leadership is prepared for travel, interagency policy committees, and high-profile events.
- →Draft and review policy guidance, memoranda, speeches, congressional testimony, and talking points on political-military policy issues for use by the Assistant Secretary and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretaries.
- →Review documents, policy options, and recommendations prepared by Bureau staff for consistency with Department and Bureau policy positions prior to submission to Principals.
- →Direct and coordinate the work of Front Office staff (Special Assistant, Executive OMS, Staff Assistants), setting priorities and resolving administrative issues to ensure Principals are prepared for engagements.
