What You'll Do

  • You will serve as a technical expert within the Fight Systems Branch (SPC2) of the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program office leading development of Navy's Hypersonic Weapon System.
  • You will lead the technical execution and delivery of complex weapon system capabilities within an assigned Area of Responsibility by managing the efforts of contractors, laboratories, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • You will direct the translation of operational needs into rigorous technical specifications and actively manage the engineering requirements baseline throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • You will apply professional engineering and physical science principles to conduct technical trade studies, resolve complex hardware integration issues, and oversee test and evaluation activities to verify system performance.
  • You will develop and analyze integrated project schedules to forecast potential delays, identifying technical risks and aggressively driving mitigation plans to ensure on-time delivery.
  • You will support budget formulation and contracting strategies by developing detailed cost estimates, translating technical requirements into actionable procurement packages, and monitoring financial execution.

Requirements

  • OPM guidance indicates that there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience.
  • This training plan or experience must be well documented and provided at time of application.) OR 1310 - Physics Series: A degree in physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics; or a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
  • In either above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.
