About the Role
The primary purpose of the position is to perform recurring building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties and to assist journeymen and other higher graded maintenance workers. Incumbent utilizes knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts. The duties described by this position may not fully meet the type of work to be performed or there may be work that this position does not do in each of the specialties; however, if the general intent is met then this position is appropriate.
What You'll Do
- →Performs masonry work of limited difficulty involving the maintenance, repair, construction, and/or stabilization of historic sites built of stone, mortar, or adobe and/or contemporary buildings, features or structures.
- →Applies premixed paints or stains to masonry, gypsum board or wood surfaces using brushes or rollers.
- →Paints various types of structures such as interior and exterior metal, wood and masonry surfaces, and a variety of wooden trim and new and old cabinets.
- →As directed/prescribed, mixes soils, water and amendments for mortars or adobes; removes damaged portions of walls or other similar architectural features in preparation for repair work and may perform duties that require a basic knowledge of applicable techniques and procedures to complete simple projects; and records location, time, and materials involved in process.
- →Replaces defective siding, steps, windowsills and thresholds; replaces glass panes and damaged portions of concrete or wooden walks and/or steps.
- →Uses both hand and power tools such as hammers, bars, handsaws, screw drivers, squares, skill saws, jig saws, routers, hand-held belt sanders and drills.
- →Performs plumbing tasks such as replacing hose bibs, valves, nipples, unions and elbows, fixtures, toilets, flush valves, faucets, and various types of pipe and copper lines.
- →Cut and thread pipes and winterizes water systems.
- →Utilizes a variety of materials, tools, and equipment associated with the plumbing trade.
- →CAREER SEASONAL: Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as permanent appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis.
- →You will work for approximately Jan-June & Mid-Jul - Dec (Non-Pay Status 7/4-7/17), and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.

- ✓Uniform: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓Class 1 Water Distribution: You will be required to obtain a Class 1 Water Distribution certification within 6 months from entrance on duty.
- ✓Additional REQUIRMENTS located under QUALIFIECATIONS There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
