These positions are located in Everglades National Park, in the Division of Visitor and Resource Protection. These positions are being filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority (FUL). See below under Additional Information for further eligibility guidance.
What You'll Do
- →Prepare and complete remittance reports for funds donated and/or collected by others.
- →Review shift reports and count funds collected.
- →Verify funds collected against shift reports, journal and receipt tapes, and a register of refunded and voided transactions.
- →Verify and confirm sales of pre-numbered receipts, passes, and/or tickets on register journal tapes and POS records.
- →Create deposit tickets electronically through approved automated U.S.
- →Treasury deposit systems (e.g., OTCnet).
- →Verify that all deposits for sales and/or donations are accurate.
- →Ensure all cash, check, credit card, and voucher sales are deposited in appropriate time frames and in the correct amount to the appropriate functional areas.
- →Provide current and accurate information and excellent customer service to visitors concerning the NPS area and other surrounding areas of interest.
- →Explain the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, wilderness/backcountry permits, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc.
- →Distribute maps, brochures, and other printed material, inform visitors of potential safety hazards, and provide directions and routes of travel.
- →Collect appropriate fees at a park entrance station, visitor center, campground, fee cannister, AFMs, donation boxes, and/or other visitor contact station(s) in accordance with established accountability guidelines for handling government funds.
- →Operate an electronic cash register, computer, tablet, smart phone, or other POS system to conduct financial transactions.
- →Perform opening and closing shift functions.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- ✓Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
- ✓You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
- ✓You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- ✓You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- ✓You may be required to ocassionally travel overnight away from home.
- ✓You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- ✓You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
- ✓Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
