Extramural Support Assistants (OA) (ESAs) perform administrative and technical duties supporting program, review, and grants functions. ESAs help coordinate the reviews of NIH grant applications making sure applications are fairly, expertly and efficiently reviewed. What You'll Do
- →Assist staff in preparing for scientific conferences, workshops, and site visits as well as review and other advisory group meetings.
- →Maintain data in local databases and prepares reports.
- →Initiate and respond to email, telephone, and letter inquiries and provides requested materials.
- →Use software functions to produce a wide range of documents that require complex formats such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update or revise existing databases or spreadsheets.
- →GS-06 Grade Level: Perform clerical and technical tasks pertaining to the grants function which consists of assignments such as processing of grants applications; answering applicants' requests for information pertaining to the status of their application; ensuring applications are complete; serving as a point of contact; and entering data into a system and closing out a case.
- →Provide routine administrative support for the review of grant applications and contract proposals.
- →Provide logistical support and coordination for scientific conferences, workshops, and site visits as well as review and other advisory group meetings.
- →Maintain data in local databases and prepare reports.
- →Initiate and respond to email, telephone, and letter inquiries and provides requested materials.
- →Uses software functions to produce a wide range of documents that require complex formats such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update or revise existing databases or spreadsheets.
- →GS-07 Grade Level: Perform specialized tasks requiring continuing responsibilities for projects, questions, and issues related to the grants functions.
- →Serve as a point of contact and furnish explanations of the regulations and procedures pertaining to the grants function.
- →Provide non-routine administrative support for the review of grant applications and contract proposals involving a variety of problems and situations.
- →Review completed work of other clerical staff to ensure that instructions have been followed.
