About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management, Occupational Safety & Health. Location negotiable upon selection, must report to a CBP facility.

What You'll Do

  • This position starts at a salary of $106,437.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $138,370.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

  • Typical duties in this position include: Providing evidence-based expertise and advice to multiple CBP academy and operational field locations, concerning concepts, techniques, administrative procedures, and practices associated with injury, accidents, and infectious disease trends, risk reduction, and workforce health status and changes.
  • Analyzing data for trends and significant causal relationships regarding work tasks, behaviors, and health practices utilizing appropriate statistical evaluation methods such as data analysis, epidemiological modeling, and contact tracing.
  • Developing and conducting studies and surveys for academy trainees and staff and employees located at various field locations, which will typically inquire about injury, exposure, and health risk will include input and involvement from CBP and other Federal law enforcement administrative and physical training staff, as appropriate.
  • Providing professional leadership and program direction in administration, practices, education, and research related to epidemiology as an integral component of a national safety and health program.
  • Developing standards, safety and health policies, and guidelines concerning the delivery of public health education and services, ensuring conformance with CBP policies, industry standards, and coordination with local management.
