You will serve as an Engineer in the Missile Test Branch (GXWZ), Missile Systems Hardware and Test Division (GXW), Global Deterrence & Defense Department (GX) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-14/15.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as a Test Execution Lead and Mission Director (MD) for the Multi-Service Advanced Capability Hypersonic Test Bed (MACH-TB) Program.
- →You will lead and serve as the responsible party for all test execution activities in preparation to, during and post assigned MACH-TB mission.
- →You will lead and participate in all assigned test meetings.
- →You will work closely with the MACH-TB Director of Test Engineering and MACH-TB Director of Test Execution, ensuring all mission accomplishments, issues, risks, schedules and products are in line and reported upon regularly.
- →You will serve as the approval authority on test execution products and activities.
- →You will work with SETA and Prime support to ensure shore support activities, deployment rosters and role assignments are completed appropriately and in a timely manner.
- →You will serve as the final Go-No-Go authority while on-console for their assigned flight tests.
- →You will ensure test execution documentation (CONOPs, checklists, Launch Commit Criteria, and more) are reviewed, complete and correct.
- →You will coordinate communication between schedulers, range, sensors, shore support, logistics, experiment SMEs, prime, and more.
- →You will ensure lessons learned are developed and communicated across the program.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
