Our Pathways Recent Graduates Program provides first-hand developmental experiences in the energy industry, while gaining exposure to the Commission's work. This Energy Industry Analyst (Recent Graduate) position will be used to fill multiple positions in the Office of Energy Market Regulation (OEMR), the Office of Enforcement and Regulatory Accounting (OERA), and the Office of Technical Reporting and Economics (OTRE). - →As an Energy Industry Analyst (Recent Graduate) some of your typical work assignments include: In OEMR, Energy Industry Analysts (EIAs) evaluate complex regulatory matters to support the Commission's oversight of electric and pipeline utilities.
- →EIAs conduct in-depth analyses of regulatory filings to identify trends, potential problems, and deviations from statutory and policy requirements.
- →EIAs review and interpret a wide range of technical regulatory data and documents within their assigned areas of responsibility.
- →EIAs inform Commission decision making by developing well-supported recommendations and to address regulatory issues, clearly communicating technical findings and implications both orally and in writing.
- →In OERA, EIAs contribute to the Commission's mission by supporting oversight of wholesale energy markets.
- →At the GS-7/9 levels, EIAs develop foundational analytical skills and apply them to help identify market issues, assess compliance with Commission rules and regulations, and assist in detecting and addressing potential market manipulation or other non-compliance concerns.
- →EIAs gather, organize, and assist in analyzing information from jurisdictional companies and the relevant natural gas, oil, and electric markets in support of surveillance, audits, and investigations, while building proficiency in the Commission's regulatory framework and enforcement processes.
- →In OTRE, EIAs at this level support the Commission's work on electric and natural gas regulatory matters by analyzing data, regulatory filings, rulemakings and other industry documents to ensure consistency with applicable regulatory principles and Commission policies.
- →EIAs perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify emerging issues and implications for the Commission's jurisdictional energy markets and infrastructure.
- →EIAs engage directly with electric utilities and natural gas pipeline companies and collaborate with stakeholders and internal specialists to prepare and present reports, develop recommendations to support team leaders and supervisors, and organize energy-specific conferences that inform the Commission, stakeholders and the public.

- ✓PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.
- ✓GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study.
- ✓Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis.
- ✓If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
