About the Role
This vacancy is for a GS-0185-12, Employee Assistance Program Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, BASE MIAMI BEACH WORK-LIFE DIVISION -HW in MIAMI BEACH, Florida.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as a Employee Assistance Program Specialist and be responsible for programs supporting and building the wellness and readiness of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) employees and their family members.
- →Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
- →Typical work assignments include: Develops, coordinates, and documents marketing, training, and prevention activities to support suicide and violence prevention, resilience, peer support, and critical incident response.
- →Provides EAP support to individuals, families, and units in response to interpersonal and self-directed violence, including suicide-related incidents.
- →Recruits and trains USCG members to support critical incident/traumatic incident response.
- →Acts as liaison for current USCG Mental Health Vendor, filtering issues from individuals and units.
- →Interview and assess clients to determine urgency and level of care needed to triage the current issue.
- →Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
- →Possess and maintain a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) certification within 12 months of employment or adoption of this position description.

- ✓Must possess and maintain a current, unrestricted, independent, advanced practice clinical social work license--e.g., Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), or equivalent--and be able to provide a copy of the license for verification at the time of the job application.
