These positions are located within the Washington Office Fire and Aviation Management, Operations Risk Management. The incumbent is responsible for refurbishing, testing, and aligning portable radios within the Communications Maintenance section of the National Interagency Incident Communications Division (NIICD) at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) in Boise, Idaho. What You'll Do
- →Sets up and prepares radios for testing and programs radio frequencies and required firmware into equipment.
- →Sets radio controls and switches to appropriate positions for testing and implements standardized test procedures.
- →Monitors program and equipment tests, makes minor adjustments to radio operating parameters per manufacturer's specifications, and documents equipment performance information.
- →Ability to troubleshoot, repair, modify, align, and maintain communication-electronic equipment and systems.
- →Diagnose routines, component layout diagrams, schematics, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and work instructions.
- →Ability to disassemble and assemble land mobile radio kits to refurbish components/parts and ensure kits are ready-for-issue (RFI).
