About the Role

You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (AFLOAT NETWORKS) in the Engineering Department of FWD DEPLOYED REG MAINT CTR DET ROTA.

What You'll Do

  • You will be responsible for the current afloat networks and enterprise services installed onboard Command Ships.
  • You will provide technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREPS).
  • You will ensure quality and cost-effective troubleshooting, repairs and modifications to surface ships as well as train military personnel in preparation for them to return to sea.
  • You will be responsible for Afloat Networks troubleshooting and repair work for forces afloat.
  • You will be responsible for the area of automated digital processing, tactical, and information systems onboard afloat units.
  • You will provide technical assistance on complex technical problems beyond the capability of forces a float, intermediate maintenance activities, or repair activities to diagnose and correct.
  • You will provide authoritative technical/engineering guidance to Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) activities and port engineers in resolution of repair/overhaul or test/grooming problems beyond their level of in-house engineering expertise.
  • You will perform special engineering analyses and studies for the purpose of developing or evaluating improvements in design, maintenance procedures, material, etc.
  • You will perform functional checkout, assessment, adjustment, and test of new or modernized shipboard systems in a systems qualifications test environment, you will have primary responsibility for operation of major afloat network subsystems.
  • You will participate in ordnance alterations (ORDALTs), ship alterations, and field changes (FCs) which include actual hands-on modification of components.
  • You will provide corrected system information and configurations to the Combat Systems Supervisor, ship's Commanding Officer, Port Engineer, and the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA).
  • You will serve as team leader of organized teams.
  • You will be responsible in reviewing, correcting and updating technical, maintenance, and operational documentation.

  • Civilian Component in Italy; however, that person is not prohibited by the NATO Status of Forces Agreement from employment in the U.S. civilian Component in another NATO host nation of which (s)he does not hold citizenship.
