Joining the Secret Service, Office of Technical Operations, will allow you to maintain the physical security of the institution through installation, maintenance and repairs of an array of electronic systems. For definitions of terms found in this announcement, please click here.
What You'll Do
- →The selectee will serve as an Electronics Engineer in the Office of Technical Operations.
- →Typical work assignments include: Developing and assessing Radio Frequency (RF) equipment, x-ray, metal detection, and related systems.
- →Researching and evaluating existing and emerging laser, night vision, infrared, thermal and electro-optics technologies.
- →Developing standards and test plans to ensure reliability of system performance throughout its lifecycle.
- →Providing training and technical briefings to end- users regarding the use, installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of equipment.
- →Apply for this exciting opportunity to impact the Secret Service's mission by providing a full range of support to the division that is responsible for providing a technically secure environment for the President, Vice President and other proctectees.
- →This Electronics Engineer position starts at a salary of $102,415.00, GS-12 step 1, with promotion potential to $187,093.00, GS-14 step 10.
Requirements

- ✓Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service If selected for this position, you will be required to: Obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Tier 5 clearance.

- ✓As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be serving in a position in Schedule Policy/Career of the Excepted service.
- ✓You will obtain competitive status after two years of service in this position [if applicable].
- ✓Your employment in this position will be at-will.
- ✓Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) appeals of adverse actions concerning performance, discipline, and other matters arising under chapters 23, 43, and 75 of title 5, United States Code will not be available to an individual serving in this position.
