This position serves as an Electronics Engineer within one of the multiple National Enterprise Infrastructure Systems Engineering sub-teams providing advanced engineering expertise in support of one or more NAS systems.
What You'll Do
- →As the Electronics Engineer, he/she plans and accomplishes highly complex and challenging projects/programs and other work activities under the minimal direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced engineer.
- →May act as a principal technical specialist or as a project/program manager for large work activities.
- →As the principal technical specialist for the electronic system or combination of communications systems used in the NAS, he/she provides guidance to lower level engineers to difficult technical problems.
- →Develops plans, techniques, and policies to address current or anticipated problems and issues involving systems from acquisition and initial implementation through the life-cycle.
- →Works with senior management to solve problems.
- →Applies experience and comprehensive knowledge of electronics engineering principles, theories, and concepts as it relate to electronic circuits, circuit elements, equipment, systems, and electromagnetic or electrical information for purposes such as communication, computation, sensing, control, measurement, and navigation.
- →Analyzes performance of equipment and systems in assigned areas and identifies the need to investigate and resolve problems that impact system performance, reliability, or service continuity.
- →He/she possesses an understanding of new technologies and methodologies, to solve complex problems and to develop improved technical processes for the organization.
- →Conducts engineering studies of system-wide scope to develop and implement solutions to these complex problems.
- →Engineering studies often involve extensive research across engineering disciplines to develop new and innovative methods of testing or apply new technologies to resolve problems.
- →Draws on experience to solve unusual problems and may create new solutions and policy interpretations as the situation requires.
- →Identifies the need for, and adequacy of, technical documentation required to maintain and certify National Airspace System (NAS) equipment and systems, in assigned area.
- →Identifies new maintenance and testing technologies and practices, and initiates efforts to incorporate these into maintenance documentation for assigned systems.
- →May develop maintenance policy for systems in assigned area.
