About the Role

The purpose of the position is to install, modify, repair, maintain and troubleshoot all electrical systems. The incumbent tests new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems and associated fixtures, controls and equipment.

What You'll Do

  • Major Duties May Include: Must have 4years of accredited apprenticeship school.
  • Must possess a MD state journeyman license.
  • Installs, modifies, repairs, maintains and troubleshoots electrical systems.
  • Tests new and existing electrical panels, circuits, systems and associated fixtures, controls and equipment.
  • Inspects and repairs all electrical equipment throughout the medical center, such as kitchen appliances, crash carts, toasters, microwaves, lighting and power systems, electrical controls and energy management systems and all other electrical units throughout the facility, including minor repairs to elevators and related equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on all motors and motor controls; tests the emergency generating system monthly and performs preventive maintenance inspections and repairs as prescribed.
  • Assists other trades with projects as needed.
  • Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls that support industrial operations, computer complexes or similar complex electrical loads.
  • Traces hard-to-locate effects or problems associated with the completion of repairs and installations.
  • Determines and places distribution panels, boxes, fittings and connections and installs wiring, couplings, conduit, relays, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices including electrical services.
  • Knowledge of the various gauges, sizes and types of wire, conduit, couplings, fittings, relays, boxes, circuit breakers and other electrical devices, and the ability to arrange and install them in ways that ensure proper and safe operation of electrical systems and equipment.
