The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science has a mission to deliver scientific discoveries and major scientific tools to transform our understanding of nature and advance the energy, economic, and national security of the United States. Office of Science is the nation's largest federal sponsor of basic research in the physical sciences and are a major supporter of research in such key scientific fields as physics, materials science, computing, and chemistry.
What You'll Do
- →As the Director, Office of Fusion, you will: Lead and coordinate the U.S.
- →Fusion Energy Strategy and executing the Fusion Science & Technology (FS&T) Roadmap.
- →Develop and implement a forward-looking international fusion strategy, ensuring the United States maintains its leadership in global fusion science and technology through strategic collaborations, data sharing, and resource alignment with international partners.
- →Lead commercialization efforts for fusion energy by implementing the DOE Fusion Energy Development Roadmap.
- →Establish and coordinate innovative public-private partnerships to address roadmap gaps and achieve milestones, supporting the DOE Fusion Energy Strategy.
- →Identify opportunities and actions to enhance processes for procurement, contracting, and intellectual property agreements to advance fusion energy, thereby accelerating the deployment of fusion technologies.
- →Ensure comprehensive coordination of all fusion functions across the Department of Energy.
- →This involves establishing an "all of DOE" management approach to facilitate coordinated planning, execution, and communication among internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- ✓Must be a U.S.
- ✓Citizen or National.
- ✓Subject to a 1-year SES probationary period (unless already completed).
- ✓Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- ✓If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.

- ✓File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report OGE-278 within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.

- ✓There are three key documents that contain important information about your rights and obligations.
- ✓Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
- ✓(Please ensure transcripts show required courses) or B.
- ✓Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- ✓This position has a positive education requirement.
