About the Role
These positions are located in region 1 and region 4 within the USDA Forest Service Law Enforcement and Investigations. These positions serve as a Special Agent with responsibility for the investigation of all potential or suspected violations of federal environmental, natural, and cultural resource statutes as they relate to public lands, For additional information about the duties of this position, please contact SM.FS.lei_recruit@usda.gov.
What You'll Do
- →Duties listed are at the full performance level.
- →Review affidavits, search warrants, seizure documentation, undercover operational materials, and investigative reports for legal sufficiency, factual accuracy, and adherence to policy.
- →Prepare written case strategies, surveillance plans, operational briefings, and interagency coordination documents that outline investigative objectives, resource needs, evidentiary priorities, and security considerations multi agency operations.
- →Deliver clear verbal briefings to supervisors, prosecutors, Joint Terrorism Task Forces, and multi agency investigative teams, conveying complex intelligence assessments, investigative findings operational risks, and high stakes criminal cases.
- →Conduct interviews, debriefings, and coordination meetings with witnesses, informants, cooperating defendants, and law enforcement partners, ensure credibility, cooperation, and accurate information in high risk investigative environments.
- →Demonstrate investigative challenges, identifying resource needs, resolving operational conflicts, initiating multi agency coordination, and investigative strategies in response to evolving leads, threats, or prosecutorial requirements.
Requirements
- ✓Must be a U.S.
- ✓Citizen or National.
- ✓Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- ✓Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- ✓Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.

- ✓This position requires initial and continuing qualifications in the use of firearms as outlined in the Gun Control Act of 1968, amended by the Lautenberg Amendment of 1996.
