The law enforcement component of the D.C. Task Force is a partnership of over 20 federal and local agencies working together to make D.C. the safest city in America. What You'll Do
- →You may be selected for a position within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCSO), Investigations and Operations Division, Protective Operations Branch (POB) or the Investigations Branch (INV).
- →The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Criminal Investigator conducting executive protection operations to safeguard DHS personnel, property, facilities, and information.
- →Criminal Investigators may begin their careers in the Investigations Branch or Protective Operations based on organizational needs and will rotate between these roles as required.
- →The intent of this position will be on a rotational basis between the Protective Operations Branch and the Investigations Branch.
- →If selected, you will be place in accordance with the needs of the agency.
- →As a CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR, GS-1811-13, your typical work assignments may include: Conduct undercover operations, surveillance, search and seizure, apprehensions/arrests, witness interviews, and suspect interrogations.
- →Provide authoritative advice to agency management on investigations, law enforcement procedures, policies, and joint initiatives.
- →Deliver verbal briefings to senior DHS personnel and other Federal, state, and local agencies.
- →Conduct physical surveillance, threat assessments, and utilize intelligence-driven methods to neutralize threats to DHS.
- →As a "rigorous" position, this position is covered by the Law Enforcement Retirement System.
- →In accordance with Department of Homeland Security, DHS Directives System; Directive # 251-03 Revision # 01, candidates for law enforcement positions can not have reached their 37th birthday prior to the date of referral on a Certificate of eligible for a federal civilian law enforcement position.
- →An individual who has passed the maximum entry age limit, but previously served in a covered position, may be eligible for consideration and reinstatement of coverage if they will be able to complete a total of 20 years of covered law enforcement service by the time he reaches the mandatory retirement day of 57.

- →The Maximum Entry Age requirement may be waived for applicants eligible for veterans' preference.
Requirements
- ✓This position requires the completion the Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) or equivalent.
