About the Role

This vacancy is for a GS-1102-12, Contract Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OPERATING LOCATION-C5I CONTRACT OPS BR 1 -CG-9141-1 -ALEXANDRIA VA in ALEXANDRIA, Virginia.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as a Contract Specialist and will be responsible for to plan and recommend execution of all contractual actions and phases for assigned projects within the Office of Contract Operations.
  • This position acquires a full range of sophisticated supplies and services which may include Coast Guard (CG) major acquisitions.
  • Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
  • Typical work assignments include: Serving as a Contract Specialist responsible for procurements that contain a number of different processes or elements resulting in extensive contract administration and subcontracting.
  • Planning and leading USCG meetings and presentations at government and non-government conferences, seminars, and meetings.
  • Developing new or innovative acquisition plans, source selection plans, and contract terms, conditions, or financial arrangements that may serve as a model for future system acquisitions and/or the procurement of technical assistance and advisory services.
  • Analyzing price and cost data contained in contractor's proposals to ascertain reasonableness of price; and reviewing contractors' performance.
  • Serving as lead negotiator for contract modifications for programs involving several interrelated contracts.
  • Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
  • Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level I (FAC P/PM-I) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position.
