This job opportunity is for an CONTRACT SPECIALIST, position description D2348P01, within the 108 MSQ GP of the New Jersey Air National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The primary purpose of this position is to provide sound business advice in the planning and execution of pre-award and post-award functions, using a wide range of common contracting methods and contract types.
Requirements
- ✓Compatible military assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.
- ✓This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
- ✓Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.

- ✓Areas of Consideration: CAT 4 Individuals eligible for membership in the New Jersey National Guard Security Clearance Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance within 1(One) Year of appointment.
- ✓(Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trial period to assess performance, conduct, agency needs, public interest, and efficiency.
- ✓Employment ends unless certified in writing that it advances the agencies interest 1.
- ✓A four year course of study leading to an undergraduate degree with a major in any field; and: 2.
- ✓Current dual status technician personnel, who occupied GS-1102 positions with authority to award or administer contracts, above the simplified acquisition threshold on/or before September 30, 2000, are exempt from meeting this education requirement.
- ✓Current military members who occupied a similar occupational specialty to the GS-1102 on/or before September 2000, are also exempt from meeting this requirement.
- ✓The Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act dictates specific education, training requirements, knowledge, and experience factors for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics workforce.
- ✓Education, training, and experience requirements, for each contracting certification level, provide the framework for progression in a career field and are used for the purpose of characterizing a contracting specialist's qualifications within the GS-1102 career field.
- ✓Initial hire applicants must complete the certification requirements for the position within 24 months of selection.
- ✓Those current on-board GS-1102 technician employees, who have not completed the training and certification requirements for their current positions, are NOT considered as qualified candidates for promotion consideration to fill vacant positions using Merit Principles.
