The incumbent serves as a Specialty Contact Representative aligned under the Unit Supervisor in the Specialty Program Department. The incumbent is responsible for processing applications for benefits for Children Women Vietnam Veterans (CWVV), VA Spina Bifida Healthcare Program (SB) and Camp Lejeune Family Member Program (CLFMP). The incumbent is also responsible for processing applications for Veterans living and travelling abroad for the Foreign Medical Program (FMP).
What You'll Do
- →This job is open to current permanent Department of Veterans Affairs employees Area of Consideration- Eligible applications will be reviewed and referred in the following order: 1.
- →Current VA employees designated as surplus or displaced by the VA - Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP) eligible, and current or former federal employee displaced from a position in a federal agency other than the Department of Veterans Affairs (Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan eligible). 2.
- →Current VA employees of the staff office posting this vacancy - Integrated Veteran Care (current SF-50 must show IVC in box 22 or 135 in box 40) 3.
- →Current employees of the Department of Veterans Health Administration 4.
- →Current employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs 5.
- →All other status eligibles Duties include but are not limited to: The incumbent is responsible for processing applications for benefits for Children Women Vietnam Veterans (CWVV), VA Spina Bifida Healthcare Program (SB) and Camp Lejeune Family Member Program (CLFMP).
- →Responsible for the processing and making legal determinations on CWVV, SB & CLFMP The incumbent will examine, develop, and evaluate relevant documentation related to the applications submitted for determination under specialty programs.
- →The incumbent must review, apply judgment, and discretion to the extent required in the performance of their duty.
- →Incumbent provides technical expertise in interpreting and applying administrative and clinical eligibility and enrollment laws, regulations and procedures related to health care eligibility.
- →The incumbent makes formal determinations and issues formal decisions on applicant's eligibility for CWVV, SB, CLFMP, and FMP programs.
- →Coordinates data exchange among VA offices and systems to ensure benefits are awarded in compliance with laws, regulations, and policy.
- →Interprets disability ratings to determine eligibility, establishes sponsor and family member records, verifies required evidence, and refers cases to the Appeals Department when eligibility is denied.
- →Incumbent examines applications for possible errors and acts according to current operational policies, as well as exercising judgment in resolution where policies may be vague, or interpretation may be required.
- →The incumbent must use their own judgment to make decisions based on their knowledge for both routine and unusual situations.
