About the Role

This position functions as the Homeless Veteran Community Employment Coordinator (HVCEC). The incumbent in this position is assigned to the Homeless Veterans Program, located within Mental Health Service at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center (JHQVAMC).

What You'll Do

  • The HVCEC is embedded in the Homeless Veterans Program and is a central figure (liaison, advocate, technical advisor) responsible for bridging employment opportunities in the local community; complimenting existing facility-based employment services, and coordinating vocational services within the Homeless Program.
  • The HVCEC works with existing vocational programs, within and outside of the JHQVAMC, to create a cohesive platform with which Veterans experiencing and at-risk for homelessness can obtain competitive employment with appropriate supports.
  • Duties include but are not limited to: Provides information, pre-employment assessment and workforce re-entry planning services, linkage, and coordination for VA and non-VA services, and community-based follow-up services to integrate Veterans into the community through competitive employment.
  • Serves as a liaison to local community providers of employment placement and support services for Veterans receiving services in the homeless programs.
  • Conducts monthly meetings with all the members (VA and non-VA) of the local employment collaborative serving Veterans and resolves access barriers to rapid job placement.
  • Provides feedback to the homeless program staff and VAMC leadership on system resources, strengths, accomplishments, challenges and recommended corrective actions on a quarterly basis.
  • Develops and maintains a database on referral and placement outcomes and provide feedback to the collaborative members as well as Homeless Program leadership.
  • Participates in the planning, preparation, and accreditation process for accrediting bodies, such as CARF and The Joint Commission, and any other applicable fidelity reviews or audits.
  • Utilizes basic knowledge and skills in use of computer software applications for drafting documents, data management and tracking, entering assessments, progress notes, and other required documentation in the Electronic Health Record (CPRS).
  • Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 7:45am- 4:30pm Telework: Adhoc Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S.
  • Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

  • This position requires driving.
  • Must possess a current, valid driver's license.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
