The Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor GS-13 at the West Palm Beach VA Healthcare System manages and develops the Clinical Pharmacy Program, oversees physician consultation and patient care services, supports medication management clinics in primary and specialty care, and coordinates preceptor activities for residents and students.
What You'll Do
- →VA Careers - Pharmacy: https://youtube.com/embed/Fn_ickNBEws Responsible for developing, organizing, and managing the Clinical Pharmacy Program within assigned areas of the Medical Center.
- →This includes building ambulatory care frameworks (primary care and specialty clinics).
- →Responsible to coordinate preceptor activities for pharmacy residents and students.
- →Major Duties: Establishes patient databases by reviewing medical/drug histories, physical exams, and monitoring ongoing therapy with formal medical record documentation.
- →Designs patient-specific therapeutic regimens, selecting appropriate drugs, dosages, and therapeutic endpoints.
- →Evaluates non-formulary and restricted drug requests for cost-effectiveness, appropriateness, and compliance.
- →Reviews medication regimens for clinical effectiveness, potential drug interactions, side effects, and contraindications, communicating alternatives to prescribers.
- →Monitors and reports adverse drug reactions, drug errors, allergies, and patient compliance issues.
- →Evaluates drug literature to compare therapeutic regimens and assists the Medication Use Committee with medication use evaluations.
- →Supervises Clinical Pharmacist Practitioners (CPPs), Clinical Pharmacy Technicians, and pharmacy residents.
- →Participates in interviews, recommends appointments, advancements, and promotions, and manages performance standards and professional evaluations.
- →Handles labor management issues, grievances, EEO complaints, and affirmative action initiatives.
- →Defines process monitors and quality controls for clinical activities and facility metrics.
- →Ensures strict physical security of the pharmacy and controlled substance inventories, reporting vulnerabilities or unauthorized access immediately.
