This is a TEMPORARY, INTERMITTENT position in the Laboratory Services Division in the Office of Examinations, Bureau of Medical Services (MED/CP). The incumbent serves as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist responsible for planning and carrying out a diagnostic testing program in overseas medical units providing microbiology, blood bank, hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology and parasitology services.
What You'll Do
- →Evaluates the quality of area laboratory services and adequacy of equipment, personnel and working accommodations through onsite inspections and/or review of reports.
- →Assures compliance with quality control and proficiency testing programs, safety standards, accreditation requirements, and agency policies.
- →Plans, implements and coordinates quality control programs and assures participation in acceptable proficiency testing programs in all areas of laboratory medicine.
- →Provides technical advice and guidance in reference to Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) situations and is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on local laboratory support capabilities.
- →Serves as the technical consultant, advisor, and provides technical oversight to embassy, government officials, and laboratory personnel on various aspects of laboratory management and testing.

- ✓The percentage of specialized work experience (for example, 6 months equals 50%) and the percentage of graduate study (for example, 9 graduate hours for a GS-07 equals 50% where 18 graduate hours constitute a full time year) must total at least 100%.
